You will find that the meanders of the Chassezac have so many surprises, you will not be able to discover them all. There is so much to do, but some of our customers, who have been coming for years, would tell you that Ardeche is a region that you discover slowly, taking your time and relaxing.
So, take a stroll in the warm, typical villages of Banne, Naves, Labeaume, Vinezac, Balazuc, Vogue or Ailhon.
If you prefer cooler activities, there are many uphill walks to do (on the North West, up the valleys of la Beaume or la Drobie) or caves to explore. Towards the South, the cave of la Cocaliere, in the Gard region, is only 10 min away. East, 25 min away, you will find the Vallon Pont d’Arc with the permanent exhibition of “Grotte Chauvet” with 35 000 years old pre-historical paintings! L’Aven d’Orgnac, one of the biggest caves in the world, Grand Site de France, gives you a fascination view into pre-historical times when you walk through its amazing underground rooms.
You can also take a tourist train at Vogue and in Vivarais when you have nothing to do except open your eyes.
You might also want to visit the many food history museums (Musee de la Chataigneraie at Joyeuse, Musee des Vins of Ardeche at Ruoms, olive oil mills) or castles, evening markets festivals, but don’t forget to simply relax and have a rest in the sun of Ardeche.
